Founded by Joe Harvey and Mike Coons Granite Engineering and Tool Company, Inc. opened for
business in January 1994 with 5 employees and 3,500 square feet of rented space just
North of Columbus, Indiana. Within a year they had doubled their workforce and
rented an additional 700 square feet of floor space. Main products produced at this
time were new progressive dies and special machines along with emergency repair. The top
customers were Arvin, COSCO, Hill-Rom, Pilot Industries and Sacoma International.
Granite Engineering currently is located in a 10,000 square foot
building just south of Columbus, Indiana on US Highway 31 which was purchased in December
of 1995 and employees 3 Engineers and 13 Tool Makers with experience levels from 5 years
to 40 years in the tool making trade. The main services provided at this time are
new progressive dies and fixturing along with preventive maintenance and emergency repair.
The top customers were Aisin USA, Pilot Industries, Arvin Industries and Hill-Rom.
In February 2000, a second building (8700 square foot) was purchased at 17th and Keller
in central Columbus. The main services provided continue to be
new progressive dies and fixturing along with preventive maintenance and emergency repair.
The top customers currently are Aisin USA, Pilot Industries, Overhead Door, Arvin Industries.
